Carrier Research connector
Research US motor carriers from Claude or ChatGPT using source-attributed VerifyCarrier evidence. The connector is read-only: it finds carriers and returns public evidence, and it never makes an onboarding, booking or safety decision for you.

Tools
| Tool | What it does | Sign-in in Claude |
|---|---|---|
search_carriers | Finds carriers by legal or DBA name and returns candidate identities. | Not required |
get_carrier_snapshot | Returns a concise public summary for one USDOT number. | VerifyCarrier account |
get_carrier_evidence | Returns curated, source-attributed evidence for one USDOT number, with source availability. | VerifyCarrier account |
All three tools are read-only. Unavailable sources are reported as unknown, never as a clean result.
Weekly allowance
Each account gets one successful single-carrier lookup every rolling seven days. Snapshot and evidence share it. Asking again about the same carrier inside that period returns the saved, dated result without using another lookup. A lookup that fails, or cannot confirm the carrier's identity, does not use the allowance.
In Claude the allowance belongs to the VerifyCarrier account you sign in with. In ChatGPT it belongs to your ChatGPT account. Search does not use the allowance; it is rate limited per network address and in total per day. Requests from Claude's hosted apps arrive from Anthropic's shared network, so they share one search limit.
For more lookups and continuous monitoring, use VerifyCarrier directly.
Add it to Claude
Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code connect to the same server URL:
https://verifycarrier-plugin.vercel.app/mcp- In Claude, open Customize > Connectors and choose Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it under Organization settings > Connectors first.
- Enter the name VerifyCarrier Carrier Research and the URL above. Leave the OAuth client fields empty; Claude registers itself.
- Search works right away. The first time Claude calls a snapshot or evidence tool, Claude asks you to sign in to VerifyCarrier and approve read-only carrier research. Your account needs a verified email address.
In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http verifycarrier https://verifycarrier-plugin.vercel.app/mcp, then run /mcp to sign in when prompted.
Use it in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT the connector identifies you through your ChatGPT account, so there is no VerifyCarrier sign-in. Until the app is listed in ChatGPT's directory, developers can add the same URL as a connector in ChatGPT developer mode.
How your data is handled
- What the connector receives: the search terms or USDOT number Claude or ChatGPT sends for the tool you invoked. It does not receive your conversation, prompts, files or memory.
- Signing in from Claude: you sign in on verifycarrier.com, not inside Claude. Claude receives a short-lived access token (15 minutes) and a refresh token. The token tells the connector only your VerifyCarrier account number, which it uses to count your weekly allowance. It cannot read your watchlist, reviews, billing or password.
- What we store: VerifyCarrier keeps the connector registration and hashes of authorization codes and tokens, never the tokens themselves. The connector keeps a keyed hash of your account (or ChatGPT account) identifier, a keyed hash of the carrier you looked up, and the dated public result it returned to you.
- Search without sign-in: your network address is used to apply the search rate limit and is stored only as a keyed hash.
- Analytics: we count connections and token issuance with your pseudonymous account identifier and a fixed client type (Claude web, a local app, or other). We never send tokens, carrier identifiers, search terms or your email address to analytics.
Full details are in the privacy policy.
Disconnect
Remove the connector in Claude under Customize > Connectors. To end every connector session for your account from our side, reset your VerifyCarrier password: existing access stops at the next token refresh, within 15 minutes. You can also email support@verifycarrier.com to have connector access revoked, or request account deletion, which also removes its connector records.
